セントラル・パーク

 

 

マンハッタンはアメリカ最大の都市圏人口を持つニューヨーク市（約800万人）の中心であり人口は約160万人と推定されていますが、この高く澄んだ青空はその人口密度を感じさせません。

マンハッタン中央に位置するセントラルパークはロンドンのハイドパークやパリのブローニュの森のような公共公園がニューヨーカーに望まれ、1860年から建設が始まり、1873年に公式にオープンしたそうです。ヨーロッパ的景観美の公園を求めたのは社交界の人々であり、移民を立ち退かせて造った公園に馬車を走らせたり、池でボートを楽しんだりしたそうです。
 

 

 

公園内はまるで自然の景色のようですが、高度に計算された人工の公園です。

公園隣地の資産価値は著しく増大し、ＮＹ市はこれに伴う税収の増大により、初期の公園投資を回収したという事です。

 

これから夏に向け、無料のエンターテイメントが充実します。
